This is my second visit in a month or so and I think its one of the best South American - Venezuelan food places in the city. It has a great ambiance, friendly and warm staff and of course the food is great. The first time I tried the Pabellon Veggie Arepa which was great value for money as it was flavourful and filling. Today I ordered the Cazon (cod fish) Arepa and Green Plantain Tostones. Really enjoyed the Green... View all feedback.
What Yvette Mosciski doesn't like about Arepa Cafe:
Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. It's exposed brick and a bit artsy. We came in for coffee and dessert on a Sunday night and based on recommendations had the très léchés which was excellent. If you are familiar with Indian dessert, it's similar to raas malai. I want to come back and try brunch here. View all feedback.
Great tasting arepa and delicious cachapa, the sweetness of the corn pancake and the nice pork shoulder are just made to be together. Great hot sauce and delicious home made condiments. However, the price is too steep for what you get, I'd rather head to la Carnitas for amazing Mexican and leave this Venezuelan tastiness for days I'm feeling like I have too much money.
I highly recommend this small restaurant. The service is excellent, with all staff members being very friendly and patient. The Venezuelan cuisine is delicious, especially the variety of arepa options available (you can even customize your own if none of the options appeal to you). They also offer salads, entrees, and a diverse cocktail and drink menu for those looking to linger. A must-try spot in Toronto!
This year, I had the most amazing dish at this restaurant. I went with my sisters, 2 nephews, and my niece to try their delicious and hot arepa, as they describe it. When we tasted the arepas, we were amazed. It was phenomenal. This fast-food restaurant in Toronto is one of the best I have been to, aside from Five Guys. I highly recommend this place! One of the things I loved about it was that all the ingredients in the arepas were fresh and organic.
The Arepas have a great texture but could use a bit more seasoning - a sprinkle of salt would be perfect to enhance the flavor of the bread. The fillings could also use some seasoning, aside from the sauces which are only flavorful when combined - such as the garlic mayo with hot sauce. These delicious flavors should come straight from the kitchen. While we can add extra toppings for a bit of zing, the main dishes should aim to be more flavorful. Also, improving the service and adding more detailed offerings will enhance the overall experience. It seems like this restaurant has reached a plateau in terms of taste, similar to other experiments in genuine street food. Eduardo, please don't give up - the flavors, story, and uniqueness are all there. Make this a place to be proud of.
I've been going to Arepa Café for years now, and I can't say I crave any dish more than I crave their arepas! Their specials are creative, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is divine. As someone with a gluten allergy, it is amazing to have so many options! I have been here on many dates, out with friends, for a quick lunch or snack...it is my favourite place to bring visitors from out of town, because the food is top notch and unique. If you're just coming here for the first time, try a Reina Pepiada, Pabellon, or Adobo Pork. Don't forgo the garlic mayo - it's addictive and delightful. Their Mocha is also delicious, not too sweet and plenty rich. This place inspired me to learn more about Venezuelan cuisine, and I try my best to make arepas at my own place...but they'll never stack up!Only complaint: it can get a little chilly in here, especially in the winter. Bring a sweater!
