I have to say that this restaurant is the best authentic Japanese food in Toronto. I love their Sushi and Sashimi. The fish is so fresh and the presentation is very impressed. I always go there every time when I want to eat real Japanese food. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Ematei Japanese Restaurant:
The most interesting thing for this place is the interior design. It looks very Japanese. It is nicer than the food. The food is average. The lunch special is OK. The trick for lunch special is to pick up the dish of the smallest quantity. You know it is special because of low quantity, that's OK. When the quantity is large for a special, the quality would be a concern. Anyway, who eats a lot for lunch? View all feedback.

Ematei still delivers quality and authentic Japanese food. The food is incredible and the service is of the highest standard. The interior could do with a little refreshing, but honestly it doesn't take away from the food! Great job Ematei for doing what you do best!
We almost walked past this restaurant after our evening bike tour in Toronto.....Finally our daughter insisted to go in and take a look.....At the first glance.....the place looked authentic....We were a bit early before the business hour....however....we decided to wait for the restaurant to open at 17.30 hour.....First set of appetizers came.....the presentation looked normal.....after the first bite....I can guarantee that the taste is second to none.....and the appetizers disappeared within seconds.....The main courses.....do I need to elaborate more.....?Highly recommend.
This place is always a special treat because they offer so much more than a regular Japanese menu and they leaving nothing by the wayside! We ordered the Omakase (chef's choice) meal because my friends are friends with the owner. He knows exactly what we'll like! We started off with Miso soup, then a salad and then th fun began! We had Eggplant in Miso, Large shrimp and then the chef, deep fried the bodies and head for a crunchy delight. We had a few typically Japanese entree's then finished off with delicious Sushi...some of which we brought home for lunch the next day!
I was very impressed with the restaurant! Although we had only gone to take-out food, I was able to glimpse into the dining area. It was packed with people and the atmosphere was superb. The staff were very friendly and efficient.The food itself was delicious and reminded me of being in Japan. I was very impressed with the food and the overall experience.
