Wanted to have an evening with friends while we were all in the city for a convention. We able to reserve ahead online for the 8 of us. The food was excellent and the flight of beer let us try a variety of tastes before getting a draft with our meal. Only drawback; there was a large group not far and they were kind of noisy. What User doesn't like about Flatiron and Firkin:
Usually I will just eat what I got and not come back but this place. It was really bad. Big group of friends and my husband and i got the chicken sandwich. Both of us had to send it back - chicken was so deep friend even a knife couldn't cut through it and the tiny amount of meat inside was grey. Told the waiter who took our uneaten sandwiches away and we still had to pay for both plates. So bad and will never come h... View all feedback.
We ate at this location with our 9 year old son earlier this week while visiting Toronto. The place is located right on the corner of a very busy intersection and so our meal on the patio was punctuated by constant noise from cars, trucks and police sirens. The selection of beer at this location was very disappointing and not at all what I would expect at any decent 'pub'. The selection consisted of the standard big brewery offerings (bud, blue, canadian etc..) At a traditional pub I would have at least expected some micro-brews to be available. If you enjoy a good beer, I wouldn't bother with this place. The menu is a very traditional pub style with things like fish & chips, bangers and mash and chicken curry. Despite the noise, my family enjoyed their food. I had only one complaint regarding the curry. It was INCREDIBLY spicy - which was not noted anywhere on the menu. My partner, who had eaten at the Flatiron in the past remembered (only after I had received my meal) that he had been warned off of the curry due to it's spicyness at his last visit so I am quite annoyed that there still was not any note on the menu or that the wait staff did not provide the same warning this time. Despite the 'heat' I managed to eat a little bit by requesting additional riata, though I feel that it did spoil the flavor a little. Over all, I wouldn't be beating a path back to eat here, it was 'ok' but nothing special. Perhaps with a better beer selection and a more robust menu I may consider it, but with so many other choices in the area it would be a hard sell.
Great place for pub-style appetizers. We ordered the spuds and sauce, chilli dusted calamari, and the hummus platter. The cocktails were excellent, too!
Great patio outside and classic English pub indoors. The pub windows sit just above the sidewalk adding to the unique setting. Fun place to stop for firkin fare or a cold beer. The Flatiron & Firkin Pub is a regular stop each time we visit Toronto !!!
I have been going to the Flatiron Firkin pub for several years now and have consistenly had friendly and timely service, great food and an overall positive experience that exceeds expectations. This Firkin pub is part of a chain, yet comparing it even to the other two in the vicinity, it is much better in all aspects. The charming summer patio, with flowers and night lights, is a wonderful bonus in warmer months, albeit the traffic noise can be a bit loud during the rush hours. The Flatiron Firkin staff is always cheerful and attentive even at busy times and the food creations (daily specials) are inspired. Overall a delicious, dependable and delightful destination!
Centrally located with the standard Firkin menu & fare! Service was a lot better than the last time that we were here!
