We went for the lunch buffet which is very reasonably priced and offers a wide selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The chicken and shrimp preparations were delicious. The replenishment of items (the establishment was not busy by any means) could have been better. View all feedback.
What sontsee doesn't like about Kairali:
We had been there for a lunch and this review is based on what we have had an experienced at Kairali; They mostly focused on take out and online orders in lieu of dine in customers. Dinning environment was an awful. They served us incomplete dishes same as they are making fool to customers with serving ready made grocery purchased naan. Terrible customers service not attentive to their customers. Dreadful washroom .... View all feedback.
Our friends from Southern India introduced us to this restaurant while we were in Toronto. They kindly ordered some typical southern Indian dishes from the menu for us all to sample. Some of these dishes included the fish cooked in banana leaf, the chicken korma and the Daal Tarka, not to mention several other vegetable dishes that were delicious. We had glasses of soda lime since the restaurant did not have much of a selection of white wine. There were numerous Indian families who came to the restaurant and it stayed very busy while we were there. The restaurant's atmosphere proved to be an unimpressive, undecorated space but there was plenty of parking around the restaurant.
We had the best kerala food in this restaurent. I fell in love with the masala tea from this place. Service was awesome! Biriyani combo was amazing! Appam with Malbar Chicken was really good!
We were confirmed over the phone that it will be dine in Onam Sadhya but when we went there, there we long queues with takeout option alone. I saw many other people having the same concern and returned after wiaitng for a long time in the queue. At one point in time the food was over and they made the customers wait for more than 45 minutes. The customers were not informed that it will be delayed and only on asking we were told that the rice is over and they are cooking rice, which again was a lie. They continue to fulfill the online orders (uber, skip, etc) but the poeple were waiting in the queue with no clue of what is going on. The lady who was leading the sadhya was very conveniently ignoring all the questions and doing her work, but when persistently questioned, she agreed that they ran out of sambhar and curries. Only after this argument, and when asked to maintain transparency, the restaurant people declare that the food is over and declared the same to the people waiting in the queue. After waiting of more than 2.5 hours we were given a parcel with 3 curries, rice, payasam and papadam packet and was charged the full price of Onam Sadhya. There was no sign of regret, no apology, but shamelessly charged for the whole price of Sadhya $15.99. It was so difficult to eat the sadhya with just those 3 cold bland curries (without sambar). This was the worst experience of Sadhya I ever had, I will never ever go back to this restaurant.
This shop needs to be closed down ASAP !!! I found a **** bolt in my biriyani, and upon enquiring they replied that it came off from one of their frying pans- they were also bold enough to get that pan and show us the missing piece(should’ve taken that picture too). At the end of the day, the owner offered me a $20 gift card. Please see the picture in this review- Canada Health needs to close this dangerous outlet.
A classic Scarborough strip mall type Indian joint but focusing on South Indian dishes. Don’t expect attentive service but that’s due to language not disinterest. The food is well prepared but while it claims to be mostly authentic Kerala based, being from Kerala I must say it’s not quite my mom’s cooking. More Tamilian than Kerala. If you don’t know the difference you will be just fine. It’s still quite different than the typical North Indian fare like butter chicken and tandoori. Try the fish fry. The idlis were a tad crumbly for my taste but the sambar was nice and thick rather than broth found in Tamil cooking. Good beef with coconut and the mixed veg and eggplant were fine. Be prepared for heat. The owner/manager is from Sri Lanka which explains the gastronical variation from authentic Kerala but he cares and it shows as there’s mostly a South Indian clientele.
