If you are a fan of vegan Indian food like me, this place is worth a visit. The food was delicious. However, the service and atmosphere were lacking. The restaurant is open-air without air conditioning, only a few fans are available. If you ask, the staff will turn on a fan for you. One of the servers spoke very little English and misunderstood the concept of veganism, thinking it meant vegetarian. Another server was able to explain what vegan meant and showed me all the vegan options on the extensive menu. I had to ask for extra napkins to keep flies away from my food, a common issue in open-air restaurants in Bali. It would be beneficial for them to cover the food for sanitary reasons. The restaurant is conveniently located one block from Monkey Forest. In a different city, I might give this place 4 stars, but with so many vegan restaurants in Ubud, it is better to explore other options unless you are specifically craving Indian food.
If you're in the mood for vegan Indian cuisine, this restaurant will satisfy your cravings. The food was delicious, but the service and atmosphere left something to be desired. The restaurant is open-air with minimal air conditioning and only a few fans. The staff is willing to turn on a fan if requested, but there may be language barriers as some servers have limited English proficiency. I had to clarify with a different server that I wanted vegan options, as one server confused vegan with vegetarian. Despite the tasty food, I had to ask for extra napkins to keep flies away, a common issue in open-air restaurants in Bali. It would be beneficial for the restaurant to cover their food for sanitation purposes. While the restaurant is conveniently located near Monkey Forest, in a city with many vegan dining options like Ubud, it might be better to explore other restaurants unless you specifically desire Indian cuisine.
I highly recommend Sitara Indian Food restaurant in Ubud. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is soothing and peaceful. The location is convenient and the restaurant is well-maintained.
If you are a fan of vegan Indian food like myself, this restaurant will hit the spot. The food was delicious, but the service and atmosphere left something to be desired. It is an open-air restaurant without air conditioning, only a few fans. The employees are willing to turn on a fan upon request. One of my servers had limited English skills, confusing vegan with vegetarian. I had to ask another server who spoke English well and knew exactly what vegan meant. He guided me through the extensive menu, pointing out all the vegan options. I had to ask for extra napkins to keep the flies away while eating, a common issue in open-air restaurants in Bali. It was strange that they did not cover the food for sanitary reasons. The restaurant is conveniently located near the monkey forest. While I would give this place 4 stars in another city, in Ubud where there are many vegan restaurants, I would suggest choosing a different spot unless you specifically crave Indian cuisine.
