Contribute FeedbackLocated in Vancouver, Judges offers a unique take on Indian cuisine that is a hit or miss for many diners. For some, the lack of authenticity is a major drawback, with dishes that are not true to traditional Indian flavors. However, others find the food to be delicious, with generous portion sizes compared to other Indian restaurants in the area. The ambiance of the restaurant, with a window view of Davie Street, can be entertaining for some, while others may find the loud TV broadcasting hockey games to be a distraction. The service at Judges is a mixed bag, with some diners praising the attentiveness of the staff, while others note delays in getting water refills and the bill. Overall, Judges is worth a try for those looking for a different take on Indian cuisine in Vancouver.
After a long afternoon on Granville Island and the English Bay beach we decided to end our last night in Vancouver with a meal at the Judges. Warm greeting followed by an above average meal of good size portions meant we were not disappointed. Well laid out premises with an authentic feel about it.
I have been eating there for years, and the food has always been good. This is why we invited friends to join us. The service was good, as it always is, but the food was simply awful. A variety of dishes with different sauces tasted almost the same: bland and stale. I had the sense that some of it had been reheated. All of our dishes were lousy, and I actually have indigestion. My dining companions disliked the food as much as I did. I will not return. Sad.
We had the chicken masala and baby eggplant. Alright but lots of onions. Ready for pick up quickly. Nana definitely not the best I have ever had.
We has an entertainment coupon and so we decided to try this Davie Street eatery. My wife had a lassi. We split the Kadhai Paneer - just flavored ok, the Aloo Gobhi was good, Palau with peas and onions was good and the naan bread basket was just ok as it hardened by the third piece of bread. Service was good, helpful and attentive.
I was a bit nervous when we went in with only one couple inside having a meal, but was pleasantly surprised. There was a nice selection, including many gluten-free choices for one in our party ("it's nice to have a choice of gf, not just 1 or 2 items").Service was good, with the servers checking in frequently.
