This diner is in the heart of downtown eastside. Has the real diner of 50s feel. Locals hang out here mainly, but great spot for tourists too if staying in a hotel around coal harbour or getting off the cruise ship for a day visit...to Gastown, historic part of downtown Vancouver. What Verona Windler doesn't like about Save On Meats:
I got the fried chicken and waffles. The chichen was over cooked. It was a deep brown and super dry. The waffles were good. Got a milkshake and that was very average as well. The service was also kinda poor. Had no idea who our server was.The bussers really saved the day here. Maybe this place doesn't have sections, I don't know. Was told a lot of good things about this place but it was kinda bad. View all feedback.
You can't beat their all day breakfast. Friendly staff and a business that helps out the needy of the downtown eastside! Worth supporting and the food is dirt cheap and awesome!
Wie waren zum Abschluss unseres Canada aufenthalts dort gewesen, wir hatten gute Burger und gute Shakes. Das Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis ist unschlagbar.Ein sehr autentisher Laden.
We visit Vancouver every other month and like to drop in for lunch here every so often. It used to be great with an excellent homemade burger and mixed salad or a clubhouse made with their chicken...we always enjoyed our meals. The last time a few months back was just ok, so thought they were just having an off day. However, today was really terrible. The burgers were ridiculously small and burnt. There was at least a 1/2 cup of that coral colored SOM sauce that was already pooling on my plate and oozing out of the burger before they even presented it to me. When they finally asked at the end of the meal if it was ok as the guy could see the huge pile of sauce on my plate, I had to tell them the truth. While they did remove both burgers from the bill, free was too expensive for this meal today.
We were standing on a street corner looking at a map trying to figure where to eat. A guy asked if we needed help and we said we were looking for a place to eat. He said follow me so we went with him and he took us to save on meats. Come to find that he owned the place. We ordered food from a sweet waitress and enjoyed our food. I guess this place also feeds some of the homeless so your money goes to good food and feeding others. Eat here for a good meal.
Stopped in for lunch and we ordered the roasted chicken club sandwich, burger and shake. All three items we would get again. Old school sandwich and the burger was a handmade hamburger patty. Really tasty. The shake was a deep chocolate that was super good.
