While down here from Canada on vacation, my wife and I came here strictly because this was my father in-law's favorite restaurant in the 70's when he lived in Santa Monica! And boy did it ever impress. The service was attentive and the staff were friendly. We came at lunch time and we got two lunch specials for $12.75 each. What sergio bastide doesn't like about La Cabana:
I recently tried the ASADA SUPER BURRITO and would rate it as an 8-8.5. I loved it. Then I tried the EL VERDE SUPER BURRITO and it was a perfect 10-10-10-10!!! It was excellent, even though I'm not usually a fan of Verde salsa. This was hands down the best burrito I've ever had. I highly recommend getting the table-side guacamole. We asked for it to be 'mild' but it could have used a bit more spice. View all feedback.

Not a hidden gem to locals, but to everyone else it sits in a location where it almost looks out of place and this is good because when you go inside you do feel like you've entered someplace different. Did the table Guac, excellant but expensive choice. Would certainly go back.
