so welcoming, friendly and professional, but covered and very knowledgeable about eating and weeping. I love this place when we ever come back to California (because of the government regulations for saddle-twist, we will not come back) will definitely eat here and bring friends. many thanks to our server, host and cook we had an excellent time here. a possibility to taste wein on its own faust with unique wein donat... What User doesn't like about The Cave:
The food left A LOT to be desired. My risotto was crunchy and oily and my shrimp wasn’t fully cooked. My husband got the corn clam chowder which tasted fine but was runny, more like warmed milk, with carrots, potatoes, and maybe a few clams. His seared tuna salad had flavorless tuna and overly vinegary dressing. Wine tasting is closed due to Covid so your openings are wine by the glass, which we’re very few, or wine... View all feedback.
There are gluten-free options available at this restaurant. The restaurant makes their own sauces, so the server can inform you of what you can eat. The braised beef ribs were both gluten-free and delicious. Rachel provided excellent and friendly service.
This restaurant is always my first choice for special occasions. The variety of wines is unmatched. The food is consistently cooked to perfection and the staff always treats us like family.
My husband and I came out to Ventura for a small beach trip, and let me say that this was THE HIGHLIGHT of the trip. The Cave’s atmosphere was amazing. It successfully gave a cozy, friendly/romantic cave feel. The outdoor eating area was bright, roomy, and seemed comfortable as well! The live music and dim lighting added to the ambiance. I could stay there for days trying their many different and well priced menu items. The meat offered was top notch and was cooked to perfection. The sides complimented the food extraordinarily and left little to be desired. The wine choices there varied and made it incredibly easy for consumers to try different kinds before making their pick. To top it all off, the dessert options were to die for! Many, many different choices for any kind of occasion or desire. The staff were very kind and welcoming. There were many hello’s when walking in the door, our waitress, Rachel, was absolutely outstanding and would highly recommend requesting her service if I were you. She was very friendly, had amazing small talk, and she clearly loved her job a lot. I will always recommend The Cave to anyone in the area. It truly would be a loss to miss out on an experience as memorable as The Cave.
My new favorite restaurant in Oxnard! The food is delicious, plates are large and well priced! The salmon is amazing.
Celebrated my 79th last night with Jacki and neighbor Bill. Been a minute since we've visited The Cave. My bad. What a wonderful evening. ALL the food was top tier. The service and ambiance matched or exceeded that high level. The Food Bill had Mahi Mahi with a pineapple salsa and asparagus risotto. His plate was so clean I don't think it required washing. Jacki has the beef tournedos. I had her leftovers this a.m. in an omelet. Thumbs up from both of us on this dish. Last night's dinner for me was Chicken Tortilla soup and lamb sliders. So good on both counts. The best part was no dish we had was above $32. Many menu items in the $20 25 range. Wines are quite reasonable. We shared a bottle of The Prisoner for $55. This very sought after blend is $40 45 in discount wine stores $49 at VONS. The people Our evening was made better by our server, Megan who never put a foot wrong all night long. Above and beyond service with personality. Michel, the owner/chef was seen in conversation at most every table including ours. Funny and talented guy. He cares about every plate served and every person seated. Ambiance We ate in the the back room. Very stylish and comfortable. Complimented the meal. It's getting harder and harder to get find truly fine dining at this price point. Reward yourself, go see Michel, Megan and the crew at The Cave. You'll be impressed.
