After a long haul flight from Australia, we popped in here for a mid afternoon snack and some refreshments.Had a tasting platter which included the tastiest Scotch Egg I have ever tasted and Beer Glazed Bacon which was sensational.A great range of beers.A great welcome to a lovely city. What Simi Moise doesn't like about The Guild:
My wife and I dropped into The Guild for a quick bite and a beer around 3:00 July 1st. 4 people at the bar and a table of 4 in the pub, bar? The initial service was good. Got beer order very quickly, but it took a bit to grab someones attention to take our food order. We ordered the truffle fries (good), pretzel (good) and marinated olives (just okay). They did check to see if we were satisfied. The atmosphere was la... View all feedback.
We all ordered fish & chips, ine reeked of ammonia (a by product of decomposition!!) GROSS!!My next piece, specially prepared for me, was like a curled segment of tendon that I could not even cut through. Hence, I had fries for dinner and of course, delicious bacon in a glass as an appetizer! So disappointed I just wanted to leave and never go back! They do not have a returning local in me! Disgusting!!
Walking the city during a 5 hour cruise ship stop , we stumbled into this historic place. Michelle took good care of us and explained The great selection of food and drinks in this pub. We enjoyed the atmosphere and excellent brews.
Wandered in for the first time for a bite while walking from our bus to our hotel. We're completely charmed by the staff and enjoyed a great burger and several BC craft beers. Went back a couple more times during our stay and enjoyed it every time. Very sociable and fun. Great food, creative cocktails. Definitely worth a visit.
Unitl very recently, I lived a few minutes away from The Guild and have been a frequent customer over the last couple of years. Overall, I would recommend The Guild as it has a rotating menu of drinks and some great specialties (including a secret menu!).PLUS, they serve bacon in a glass! I know--sounds strange, but give it a chance. The bacon I believe is sourced locally and they prepare it and glaze it in maple on-site. Perfection. The service has been uneven at times, but overall I think the wait staff and bartenders are solid. In short, I'm a fan of their drinks and appetizers, but I find the lunch/dinner menus expensive and just okay.If it's the first stop in your evening, then I think you'll have a great time!
We stopped here for coffee and dessert, there was not a great selection, but what we chose was good. The place had a pub style atmosphere, the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the desserts. We reviewed the dinner menu and probably would not chose to eat dinner there due to the lack of choice. (you can review the menu online). If you are wanting a quieter place to talk, this is not the place, it is on the loud side.
