Little difficult to find near Zaachila but worth the drive. Its a huge place and one of chef Rick Baylis' favorites. Looks like to would seat several hundred people at the wooden plank tables and tree trunk seats. The welcome mezcal was appreciated. The menu is overwhelming but we settled in the turístico plates, sampling wonderful Oaxacan foods. Prices were very reasonable. The barbacoa was sumptuous. View all feedback.

We came here on the Zaachila market day (Thursday) on our way into town, because we wanted to try the "gigantic" tlyudas they are "famous" for. Now we can say with confidence this is a tourist trap.200 pesos for what is basically an average tlyuda is absurd! You could get 4 tlyudas in the market for this price. In other words, the gigantic tlyuda is 4 times the price of a regular tlyuda but is not 4 times the size. I... View all feedback.
This is likely to be my favorite place in oaxaca, every time I am close I try to come to him at least once, last time I was in oaxaca (I speend a week in the city) the first days, I took a group of friends who have never been here, and they love it that much that we are again eating the third day, this is probably a mexican far for the best of the

It seemed most of the other menu items were of average price, so if you go, just avoid the temptation to try the gigantic tlyuda. The atmosphere is very weird, it is obviously a place for giant tour buses as it is the size of a German beer hall. Did not know about the animal cages, probably better I didn't or would have rated it lower.
Excellent Mexican cuisine with spectacular service. We had a local friend take us here for brunch on a Saturday morning. He has dined here for many years and suggested it as the one must do dining experience for Oaxaca. We had three different egg dishes...and hot chocolates (you can get them made with leche or agua), Jamaica juice, pastries and more. Ism ad to say I don't remember names of them all, but it was all spectacular. We tried mole negro, the local mole, and although I'm not a mole fan this one was really good. Great experience.
Look after this place. eating was great. we started with what can be described as a huge pizza taco, then chilis, pork, bark, vegetables and dessert. besides the amazing eating and the great local atmosphere, the reasons were also interesting.
