I live very local and was hoping to find a regular place to visit. I will point out that the young staff working were very attentive and helpful - that was about all that was positive though. When we arrived there were only two other tables. We ordered almost immediately and then the place started to fill up and it was very loud. I had lunch here with my husband and teenage son, our first time at this cafe. I was expecting a more modern, hipster-style cafe but it is fairly ordinary, quite roomy and popular with families on a Sunday. We ordered focaccia, $17 each including chips (ordinary) and side salad (fresh and tasty, nice dressing). I was impressed by the size of the focaccia (one half would have been ample for me), they were fresh and tasty, the foccacia bread was really nice and light. However, they were barely toasted and cold in the middle, a pet peeve of mine. My husband's chicken focaccia had lettuce in it - I don't get why anyone would want warm limp lettuce in their focaccia? To add to our less than satisfactory lunch, the entrance door to the cafe is a wide automatic sliding door that opens and closes frequently, so if you are sitting near it you will get frequent gusts of cold air on a cold day. It also doesn't help when customers stand in the doorway keeping the door open and staff do nothing about it. Overall we weren't impressed and decided to forgo coffee and have it in the comfort of our warm home.
Lovely cafe and staff. We were a group of 10 and had booked a high tea. Everything was spot on and the most amazing value for money. Highly recommended
I've visited the Yarra Valley Deli and Cafe a couple of times, most recently in January 2017. Based on my experience, there are few other options in the area so I didn't think twice about going back on our most recent visit to the area. The coffee is very nice and I've found the staff super friendly both times I've visited. Nothing appears to be too much trouble. The cafe itself is a nice place to be with a good feel to it. I'd like to go back for a more substantial meal, but for now, I'd have no issue recommending the Yarra Valley Deli and Cafe to anyone.

When we arrived there were only two other tables. We ordered almost immediately and then the place started to fill up and it was very loud. We had two young children in tow so would have expected food to arrive within 20 or so minutes (both ordered sandwiches). they started to complain they were hungry and bored.. 45 minutes since ordering and the food finally arrived but in dribs and drabs (chips came out separately). Food was bland and very unenjoyable. All up was $75 for four people !!!!
Stopped for a lunch. Had pulled pork and jacked potato, calamari salad, spring rolls. All very tasty!
