Bobby Van's Steakhouse 809 15th Street Nw

Though service was of high quality, the food didn’t live up to the expectation. We had heard of BV’s several times and randomly found a Groupon for a dinner for What better way to try out a new spot?! We ordered for appetizers, the French Onion Soup (delicious), shrimp cocktail (generous and tasted fresh). Our meal consisted of a ribeye up-charge) and a filet mignon with shareable sides of mashed potatoes, sautéed Brussels Sprouts, and asparagus. Well- the steaks were very enjoyable and cooked to perfection. Better without the BV special sauce -it tastes like ketchup. Sides were cold-especially the sprouts- potatoes were gritty as if from a box where not enough liquid was added, and the asparagus was still raw- Just a little warm. Given the less-that-amazing meals I became overly focused on the environment. Very bright though lights were turned down around and the tables were so near it seemed patrons were in a shouting match with each other. Made for an interesting experience. Again- the service was great; nothing else stands out as worthy of a return

Food superb as always (salads, ribeyes and sides), wine a bit overpriced. One of my favorite places and will return next time in town—outstanding service and a great overall experience)

We were in DC on vacation. We always try to find at least one nice restaurant during vacation. Bobby Van’s hit the spot! The steak was very good (husband and I shared Porterhouse) and my sons had filet. The sides are family style. We had Mac and cheese (to die for! mashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was perfect! We will definitely be back!

The service and food was amazing. I’ll definitely recommend this place to everyone, I’ll be back for another date night here as well
