Had lunch here with an old mate. Both had the chicken pad thai and a spring roll. $22 for the 2. Generous serve, very tasty and good service. Will go back and try something else. View all feedback.
What Audie Halvorson doesn't like about Siam Samrarn:
We were looking forward to eating here, but could not believe how bland the food was. Kind of like the McDonalds of Thai restaurants. The staff were lovely and super attentive, but let down very badly by what’s going on in the kitchen. Won’t be...going back. View all feedback.
$10 & $15 lunch menu...great value and depending on what you order great taste also. The red curry chicken, the chicken pad thai , the beef hokkien noodles, & basil & chilli chicken are great tasting.
We had dinner on a week night and sat outside where there were heaters as it was a cool evening. The decor is lovely and there was a great atmosphere of people enjoying their night. We shared vegetarian spring rolls,Choo Chee Salmon and Pad Thai. Everything was delicious, great service and reasonably priced. They are licensed and validate parking for free for up to 2 hours.
For a really nice restaurant experience it is hard to go past some of the little restaurants in Tokyo, Japan where you sit in private wooden cubicles, in quiet surroundings and eat delicious food. OK, So I'm not a fan of the current trend in restaurant décor, with all the reflective surfaces where the noise level equals that in a factory cafeteria at lunchtime, and the tables are too small and close together. So this piece is about the surroundings as much as about the food at Siam Samrarn. We have eaten at this place often enough before, but have always sat outside on their large roofed terrace, and I have been a bit critical of the comfort and the lighting level. But this time, with the weather finally turning a bit cool the booking was made for inside.Tricia and I got there a bit early, and were able to relax and look around while we waited for the rest of the group. Located in what was the vestibule of the Tristram's soft drink factory, it benefits from much wrought iron and a high ceiling. The introduced decorations are Siamese in influence as would be expected, and as such are colourful and relaxing, and the tables, large enough to take the entire food order together with wine are spaced far enough apart to allow maximum comfort.Through either good design or luck the lighting is wonderful, especially if you like to see what you are eating. The light came from a variety of different sources, so that although it was helpful it was not intrusive, and did not spoil the general atmosphere. On top of this the staff could not have been bettered, with their combination of Thai reserve and youthful friendliness. The food...Ah! yes, the food. It was as good as it always is , but I found it much more enjoyable in these excellent surroundings. The restaurant is licensed, but corkage on BYO wine is $6 a bottle. There is parking on the premises, and the restaurant validates your parking docket for up to 2 hours, but it pays to be aware. We were charged $10:00 for being in the carpark for 2 hours and 3 minutes. I kid you not. We'll be back but I'll be doing the booking and believe me it will be inside.
Siam certainly is good Thai at a good price. It is easy to walk to from the cultural centre to boot. For those that ask what the other two I rate above it are narrowly they are kin at garden city and Thai orchid on Logan road south side. This one sits a bit above my Thai kitchen at Toowong/Milton but w similar standard to me.
