Outstanding. We took my wife for Mother’s Day, the family of four loved every part of the experience. Wonderful engaging and tentative staff, a brilliant taster menu and very generous pairing wines in a beautiful restaurant. I can’t recommend it enough and we’ll certainly return. View all feedback.
What Leigh Bramich doesn't like about Bybrook Manor House:
My expectations were admittedly high but I left wishing I’d spent far less to eat far better. The servers and sommelier were lovely but we were also ignored for the first 35 minutes after we were sat for context, they were quite busy but we’d also had this reservation for weeks so it felt like poor planning either way. Wine pairing was fantastic. Food was so beautiful but just ok flavor wise, which I don’t say lightl... View all feedback.
Under expectations the bybrook in the manor house is one of these destination restaurants that sound like a great idea for a luxurious, country-wide flucht. the large stone building sits in beautiful park landscape and has all wood trims, fireplaces and elegant furniture that they could ever wish. the only problem is, it is *1 restaurant served a very common menu that does not deliver the “unusual aromen and stunning presentation” they would expect; a real shame. the chef richard davies presents “Luckleber” Au-Torchon, perhaps try to trick dunes that might be squealing about eating foie-gras in just that. It’s the first time back since 2018 and from reading some reviews here wasn’t sure if we’d return and be disappointed as we’ve only ever know it to be a great hotel. I’ve just returned and found it to be a fantastic place I found the service levels good and a bit less formal than it used to be but in a positive way. I think the world has moved on from the stiff English approach I appreciate some may be concerned by that but not me. The hotel has taken over the local pub and offers a breadth of eating options. We had wonderful food, drinks and highly recommend.
Excellent service from all staff. A complete credit to the venue.
First 5 star hotel without minibar and no daily water refill. Third night and we got only two small bottles of still water. Breakfast... Extremely on a slow side and you have to book it. What?! Michelin restaurant is okay, the tasting menu does have interesting positions but it comes with 7x markup on wine list. Absolute madness, like second wine of montrose for like 180 pounds. The second michelin (sister restaurant) castle in is 100% to avoid. You will wait one hour for your venison that is 3 sashimi style pieces that weigh 60 grams. Food to share doesn 't come with plates. Feels like you are just being fed. Saint emilion wine is served warm like your afternoon tea. Beautiful scenary, otherwise, but will never ever come back or recommend it. Can 't wait to leave tomorrow.
This place is beyond beautiful cozy! We are already planning a return trip with the family!
