I have been here many times and consistently, the food was fresh and delicious. Their shawarma plate with beryani rice and a side of fattoush is my go to and I adore it here! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Mayor:
I drove from Guelph to meet my friend in Windsor. We decided to have lunch at El Mayor because we love Lebanese cuisine. I liked our food but we were annoyed by the ambiance. There was a family gathering with children out of control. The...children or child) screamed through the entire lunch making our visit a regret. We wished we ate somewhere else. After approaching the management of the restaurant and voicing our... View all feedback.
My Boss and I went to El Mayor for lunch, we asked for a lunch special, the waitress said okay, she will bring us something good and not expensive, we ate, the food was just okay, nothing great, the bill was $65.00, we got ripped Off, I suggest you stay away from this place as its a rip off, the owners are crooks. Other Arabic places to eat that won't rip you off.
Living in Detroit, with a large Arab population in the metro area, I guess maybe I am a little spoiled by the wide availability of good Mediterannean restuarants here. El Mayor reminded me of many of the places I have eaten at in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights it was nice, reasonably priced, and delicious, but nothing that stood out as above and beyond. I had a mixed schwarma plate chicken and beef with rice, a glass of carrot juice that was terribly overpriced $4.50 for a small! , and chowed my share of garlic sauce with pita bread. The garlic sauce is not complimentary, which was a bummer, because I can eat this stuff in mass quantities. Also, the pita was not served warm, which was a little dissappointing as well. Aside from that, food and service was good. Overall, not a bad lunch.
Great restaurant. We eat here every time we come to Windsor. Fantastic food and good service. Large bbq platter to share is our usual go to. Have been numerous times over the years.
Never a bad meal, staff always friendly. Can't beat a chicken shawarma sandwich and there hand cut French fries for lunch. For dinner we always eat family style and choose several dishes to share. Never leave hungry and the price is so good for families. Have to try there house made fruit drinks or fresh squeezed orange juice or lemonade. Yum! Make sure to leave room for deserts they are a must try.
Ordered for delivery. Got the mix platter for two, tabule and side hummus. Mix platter included chicken tawook, beef kabob and kofta. Kofta and kabob were pretty good, but the chicken tawook was very tender and flavourful. The fattoush salad and tabule were great, and the hummus was fresh and real!! So good. Only suggestion I would make... use less oil!
