This restaurant used to be great, but it has recently gone downhill. I started with a pâté appetizer that was swimming in melted butter. For my main course, I had a burger that was average, but it was covered in marble onions instead of relish, which didn't work at all. The staff was very good, but it seems like they need a new chef. This restaurant is amazing! The staff is beautiful and the food is incredible. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed evening in York. Thank you!

After frequently visiting York, I had been wanting to dine at Oscars. We arrived for lunch and made a reservation for dinner tonight. Since there was a large booking at 7pm, we were asked if we could come in at 6:30pm, which was not a problem for us. At 6:30pm, we were seated at our reserved table and our drinks order was taken. Shortly after, our food order was also taken. However, after waiting for 50 minutes, our food had still not arrived and nobody seemed to acknowledge us. Eventually, we managed to get the attention of a lovely young waitress who apologized and said our food would be ready in 5 minutes. We were then asked to move tables due to a large booking. After waiting for one and a half hours in total, I went to the bar to let the staff know we were leaving and to settle the bill. The drinks bill was waived and we received an apology. I'm not sure what went wrong tonight, but the service was absolutely appalling. The least the staff could have done was to inform us of the delay. I will not be returning.
