The Grand Trunk Saloon - Kitchener

The fare is New Orleans. I had a Caesar salad and Louisiana Gumbo. They were wonderful. I also had a Mescal sampler...some real winners.

Stopped by here after the show Asphalt Jungle Shorts for drinks. We are never disappointed. I had a great bourbon, Basil Hayden and my wife had the house red. Service is excellent, attentive and friendly. We come her fairly regularly and we have yet to be disappointed. We will return.

This was my second visit to The Grand Trunk Saloon but first time ordering food. I started with the alligator bites which were quite good and had the Catfish as my main dish....all I can say is meh. The catfish was cooked well but was not overly impressive and the rice was very dry. The peppers and tomatoes mixed in were bland and nothing special. A big disappointment for $20 (and a small portion at that). Kind of a bummer coming home still hungry.Friends I was with ordered the chicken and waffles and basically said it was only ok and could not be compared to the chicken and waffles we had in New Orleans. On the plus side, I do think the service is great and do really like the drink selection and uniqueness of the saloon.

The drinks here are great! They have a neat drink menu. The two bartenders that looked after us were fun and friendly. I'd come back here again.

When you walk into this place it's like walking into another world. I dare you to just look at the food and drink menu. This is the kinda stuff you just can't get anywhere. We had some Gator meat which was a first for us. Delicious! I also had a drink called "coffee and cigarettes". One of the best things I've ever tried! The staff were super friendly. Great conversation. Dan has the coolest moustache I've ever seen. It's just another thing that makes you feel like you've gone back in time. There was a three-piece band playing old style music. A guitar, mandolin and banjo. My girlfriend and I even got up for dance.Thanks guys and see you again soon. Cheers
