Carmelita vegetarian restaurant and bar opened in 1996, named after Michael's mother Carmelita who inspired love for life, art, food, and family. Proprietors Kathryn Neumann and Michael Hughes designed and decorated the restaurant. In 2009, a full bar was added to enhance the dining experience. The restaurant seats 70 with 20 seats at the bar and an additional 24 on the garden patio. A heated and covered seating area is available for cooler months. The menu at Carmelita changes frequently to incorporate local, seasonal ingredients for a true farm-to-table experience, supporting independent farmers and foragers.
