I called in for lunch during a visit to Matera a few weeks ago. It was a lovely hot, sunny day so I sat on one of the tables outside. There was a good choice of food on the menu, and, seeing I was unfamiliar with some of the things that were on offer, the waiter, the waiter kindly made recommendations. Nice and attractive terrace in Matera. But we were shocked by the food quality. The schrimps were not cleaned (pretty dirty) and the lamb was the worst quality I ever tasted.
