Restaurant Nippon, which opened in August 1963, was the first Japanese restaurant in the U.S.A. to feature an authentic sushi bar. In 1988, we introduced nihachi soba made from buckwheat seeds cultivated at our own farm in Canada. The following year, we obtained an exclusive license to import Japanese "Tiger Blow Fish." In November 2006, we became the sole importers of natural wasabi from Japan. In 2007, we began producing and serving tofu made daily with soybeans from our Canadian farm. In recognition of our efforts to promote Japanese culture through food, owner Nobuyoshi Kuraoka was awarded "The Order of The Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette" by the Japanese Government in 2009.
Based on the average review of 4.3, the Restaurant Nippon is definitely worth a visit.
What OpenTable Diner likes about Restaurant Nippon:
I celebrated my wife’s birthday here with my kid and my friend. Very quite place and elegant lighting. Our server was kindly explained the menu and recommended menus for us. We had new york sushi, don katsu and sukiyaki. Susuhi rice was perfect and fish was soft and tasty. Don katsu plate was beautiful and yummy. Sukiyaki was very delicious. At the end, they gave us an ice cream plate with happy birthday decorations.... View all feedback.
What BUBBLES doesn't like about Restaurant Nippon:
Excellent menu, ambiance and service. I really don’t know how to judge the value of the food—it was excellent and expensive. It is a restaurant in midtown Manhattan, so isn’t that to be expected? I can strongly recommend Restaurant Nippon to anyone interested in good food, prepared well in an inviting and clean environment! View all feedback.
