After a lean period between managers, the White Lion is now back to being a brilliant asset for the local community and a great place for passers by and walkers (the area is brilliant for hiking). The beers are limited because this is a Samuel Smith pub (there is a reasonable variety, although no guest ales). We are two senior ladies (60+ who called in for lunch after a long walk. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive my friend took out her phone to send a brief text to check on her grandson but she had to quickly put her phone away as the landlord steamed over to remind her that phone use is “not allowed!” We had seen the “No mobile phone” signs but to be honest we didn’t think it was serious.
