This charming rural Dorset spot, dating back to the 14th century, was originally built to house the builders of the Saint Andrew's church spire. With its rustic charm and original features such as a thatched roof, beams, large fireplaces, and flagstone floors, it offers a unique, old-fashioned village experience with stunning views of the surrounding fields from the beer garden. Nestled in the heart of the historic Ernest Cook Trust estate in Trent village, this pub has a rich history - King Charles II even sought refuge at Trent Manor House during his escape to France. Now, under the management of the renowned landlord Buff Biggins, the pub has been revitalized to offer a top-notch experience. With a stellar reputation for fine ales and a variety of beautifully maintained options on tap, it's no wonder we've received accolades from Camra and Cask Marque. Our newly renovated bedrooms have been given a 5-star rating, and our food has even earned a special award from the AA. Additionally, we're proud winners of the Perfect Pint award. Guests can choose to dine alfresco with picturesque views of the fields, or enjoy people-watching from the front of the pub. The Barrow lounge is the perfect spot to relax by the open fire on a comfy leather sofa, while the conservatory boasts panoramic views of the valley and garden. The bar offers a casual view of the local farmer's fields, extending all the way to Nether Compton. Our menu features a selection of dishes made with local ingredients from trusted suppliers, including traditional British fare and unique creations from Chef Marcus Wilcox, such as Pork Crackling with Apple Sauce or our own take on Chateaubriand.

What Cazzypilates doesn't like about The Rose And Crown Inn Trent:
Lovely spot, decent wine but the food has lost its decent reputation. Thought we’d give it another try as it has decades of good name behind it but wasted money again. View all feedback.
