"...you might want to consider extending your tour of the Piemonte to include some towns that are not as well-known as Alba or Asti but are equally interesting in a different way. Maybe a small city like Alessandria would be a good choice. There’s a lot of history here, wonderful architecture and monuments, and exceptional restaurants. One I recommend is Ristorante Duomo. It’s located in a line of store fronts, across from the Duomo, that at first makes you hesitate about going inside. Somehow it doesn’t look right, like finding a gourmet restaurant in a strip mall. Forget that. Head on in. It’s going to exactly what ...you weren’t expecting. The interior is modern, the ambiance friendly and the menu is very unique. They chef has managed to spin traditional Italian cuisine into something more delicious than you can imagine. His menu is seasonal, fresh and I suspect changes often with what’s available. It’s all beautifully presented but not overly embellished. After an espresso you can walk over to the Borsalino Museum and buy hat in the factory store. It’s a small price to pay for the Bello Figura!"
