"There were some issues with service and the restaurant being very busy but I had to leave a high review as there's a lady in the staff who was simply outstanding, took care of us, and made sure we got everything we wanted. Whatever she's being paid, it's not enough!"

"Haven't been here for many many years but tried it as my usual was closed. Just got the bog standard fish and chips, and wasn't disappointed. The chips were excellent and the fish large with a nice batter. The fish was an unusual shape, it was very long and skinny, but hey, it tasted good. Also nice to see they haven't increased their prices which I have noticed other takeaways doing. As of writing they still had the $2 fish and $2 chips. They also double as a good old fashioned fish shop and you can get any fish from the display cooked as well (for a higher price of course)."

"Food was good and service was prompt. Place is a bit tired. Had to ask for wait staff if they could replace my chair as the cushion is sagging. Hope their menu included more non-fried items. Overall, experience was good, wait staff were friendly and attended to us."

"Airport food is always something I consider a dicey, pricey prospect. A captive market, too often us travellers are exploited as our hunger and changing time zones lead us to accept whatever is on offer. 1958 is one of the last eateries you will come across when walking the Auckland International Departures area. It also seems more like a bar than a place to get a decent feed. However I was superbly delighted when my decision to order some good kiwi Fish and Chips arrived perfectly done. Fresh, golden, crisp fish, chunky well-seasoned fries, a vibrant salad with peas, lemon and tartare sauce. It was everything fish and chips dreams of being. Heaven! The dining area was tastefully furnished and had plenty of power outlets for me to recharge my devices from, while offering the best view of the airport exterior with all the plane action. Service was friendly and efficient. I think, being a lounge-less flyer, I just found a new favorite spot to keep as my haunt the next time I depart Auckland."

"Came here on a beautiful sunny, November Saturday while there was a Wine Sale (amazing deals. Wish I budgeted my week to get some. Oh well, next year , going on. The scenery is breath taking, several different plots of vines, a pond, Willow trees, shrubs, barrels and a stairway to take beautiful photos of. Came here to check it out as a possible wedding venue and found there was a cafe!!!! So will have to come back and check it out."

"Love the food here. Must tries are the chicken fried rice, won ton soup, deep fried won tons, fried noodles (meat of choice) and deep fried oysters and mussels. Food here is made fresh and taste good. Well recommended. Down fall is the payment option which is only cash."
