"Quite disappointing! The decor isn’t lavish but nicely done. The black table cloths and newly covered chairs (vinyl but okay), make the overall appearance quite chic, sadly let down by the lack of refurbishment on the bench seating. Unfortunately, the feel and decor didn’t match the experience of the food. I order starter of calamari and salad, my guest had scallops and cauliflower purée. The scallops were lovely, all be it that the purée was a bit overpowering (I’m told) and my the calamari was lovely, tender and very tasty, but the salad was dotted with rotting leaves which tells me there’s a serious lack of attention in the kitchen, even a hygiene issue. For the main course I order sea bass and my guest, a dover sole, both of which tasted like they had been steamed, not baked or grilled. I’m no chef but I know that, whatever they did to the fish wasn’t correct. The sea bass was rather tasteless and watery but the sole looked like it had turned into a gelatinous glue. The have a good wine selection, can’t fault them there. The cost for this unimpressive meal was £90 for two with a bottle of wine(and not an expensive one either), so all in all, I can compare that to a London restaurant and honestly there is no comparison. I won’t be returning!"
