"I have moved to live nearby this cafe and have found the service and the food lovely. This cafe does good coffee and i had a tasty toasted sandwich. The cafe is right next to the adventure play park, skate park and the library so...if you have children this would be a good stop on your travels"

"We dined on a Saturday morning, about 10am(ish). The place was empty apart from two other couples. Whilst we were there only 2 or 3 other couples came in. Most odd for a Saturday morning, but perhaps not so, considering the food we received! We ordered “Smashed avocado with roasted truss tomatoes, Danish feta & 2 poached eggs on multigrain toast - $17.50”. What an extreme case of misrepresentation! What we received was 2 tiny slices of multigrain (Vienna shaped) toast (from the size I suspect they were the ends of the loaf, and they’d have been lucky to be 5mm thick; not toast thickness at all). The avocado was most certainly not “smashed” – it was “mashed”, and spread so sparingly it resembled a scraping of butter on the toast. The eggs were tiny, and the most “average” poached eggs I’ve ever eaten. The truss tomatoes must still be growing on the bush, as we received 2 or 3 unripened tiny cherry tomatoes, cut in half so as to look like there was a lot more on the plate. The miniscule amount of crumbled feta resembled nothing more than a plate garnish. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience. In hindsight, I should have sent the food back, but I didn’t want to cause a fuss (the other couple of diners would have heard every word!). The hot chocolate was very good (possibly one of the best cups I’ve ever had, so they’ve got that bit right – I believe their coffee is good too!). The staff were polite, but I wouldn’t say there was any “service”. The menu was handed to us as if it was an effort to even walk to our table. We weren’t offered table water at all, nor were we asked if we’d like anything additional after we finished our meal. I won’t ever go back, and I’ll most definitely be telling my friends not to bother going. Word-of-mouth is the best form of marketing for any business, and sadly for Raven Hill Café, they’re doing it wrong!"

"Inexpensive cafe in Bentleigh away from the overpriced Centre Road offerings. Service lovely and nice laid back environment. However I had a lovely Eggs Benedict that had little to no hollandaise...see photo. Sad because it tasted really good and priced well. The pancakes were good value too for under $10 but I can't give this place 4+ due to that error (maybe I could've asked but I thought it was there but really wasn't). I'll go try again in future and make sure it is there next time. Still not a bad place...also nice hot chocs but a little weak in choc flavour."
