"Had the most incredible experience here 4 weeks ago! The food was some of the best I've ever had in Halifax! The wine was amazing, and the service was fast, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. We had the House Cured Charcterie to start, I have the Duck Margret as my main, and my partner had the Beef Striploin as her main. For desert we finished off with the Terrine. It was all outstanding, one of the best meals top to bottom I have ever had. Cannot recommend Stories more!"

"First and foremost, this is a classy bar with amazing food. When judged as such, it excels in most everything. The cocktails are unique and interesting, the spirit list is among the best in the country, service is amiable, and the food is absolutely delectable. However, we specifically came because of it being selected as a top 15 restaurant in Canada. With this in mind, there were a few shortcomings hence the four star review. Our cutlery was never changed out, you're only slotted two hours (even if you're spending), there is no espresso machine, and they don't take Amex. These might be small things for most or even petty to others, but in my mind if you're trying to compete with the best in the country then every box needs to be checked. I'd certainly recommend Bar Kismet to friends and come back for sure, but I am making this review with the #12 selection in mind and for that, I cannot give five stars faithfully."

"Came here during happy hour (4 6pm) for the $1.50 oysters very fresh and satisfying. Ordered a couple other dishes to try and we discovered that the fish chips here are to die for! One big piece of fresh fish in thin panko crust yummy. We didn’t have enough and ordered more. I’m not a big fan of thick greasy batter so I really enjoyed their version. The octopus salad, on the other hand, was a little fishy for me."

"The food was excellent as always, but we felt a little rushed through our meal. It 's understandable that they want to turn tables over, but this meal was a special birthday dinner and we were in and out in just over an hour. One of the orders wasn 't prepared to specification, and it was just shrugged off as oh sorry about that but nothing was done about it. Plates were cleared before other people were finished eating, which is a big pet peeve of mine. It makes other guests feel like they have to rush. All in all a good dinner, but overall the service was a bit lacking."

"Good place for beer and snacks, lackluster real meals. I had the burger, friends had tacos and the Greek fries. There was a ton of bun and sauce on the burgers, overwhelming any meat flavor. The fried capers were a cool addition to the tacos they looked beautiful and tasted pretty good. Ultimately the food felt a little expensive. The beer selection is great, and the prices are fair. The atmosphere is nice. The service was a tad slow and confused. I think the server might have been new, but everything arrived after a few questions."

"A bit heavy on the salt but very nice take on every classic dishes. However, very pricey for what you get. 29$ for the gnocchi with 9-10 gnocchi on the plate. Scallops at 28$ for 5-6 scallops. Etc…It is surprising how they get away with it. Of note: excellent service"
