"Opus has been a mainstay in the Annex neighbourhood for close to 30 years. What has kept in in business (and it was packed the night we dined there) great service, outstanding food and one of the best wine lists in Toronto. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner the seared foie gras appetizer (very silky and very rich), the Fogo Island cod entree (a small portion but perfectly cooked and served with a great saffron sauce) and doughnuts tossed in cinnamon sugar for dessert. It's not cheap appetizers in the mid $20s and most entrees between $40 and $49 but a good place as any to splurge."

"I recently visited there restaurant as a first time customer and was incredibly satisfied on all fronts. The food was amazing, the ambiance was pleasant, even the service was great. I ordered from the brunch menu, and if you have a sweet tooth highly recommend the french toast. It was one of the best french toasts I've ever eaten, if crunchy, light"

"After walking the Little Italy street festival, stopped into this restaurant for drinks and dinner. I knew it would be busy with the festival going on so I packed my patience. After ordering some wine, we were told that food wasn't available to be ordered for about 20 minutes. No problem we thought. Kitchen must be very busy and orders backed up. 20 minutes turned into well over an hour. No apologies, no offer of a drink, nothing. Finally we were told the real reason for the delay. It is Ramadan and the kitchen staff had to eat first so the whole kitchen was shut down. What? It's a restaurant for God's sake. We ordered our pizza finally and skipped dessert. The food was nothing exceptional. I was extremely disappointed with the service or should I say, lack of service. I definitely will not be back."

"Wow, this place is a rare foundation in a big city. the pizza here is the traditional napoli pizza. wonderful selection, excellent and very pleasant service. was very busy on a Friday night, many locals here. the ingredients were freshly tasteful! more limited wine. selection, but what they have is beautiful. to finish the meal we were asked if we would like a galato on the house and of course we said to die! really a must visit!"

"One of the best deep fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Fries as a side is a must have. We enjoyed the food so much that we went for the brisket as a desert option."

"My wife and I came here stressed with deadline blues last night, and left relaxed and seeing deadlines in the right perspective -- they can wait!!!We came here partly because they're one of three Italian restaurants doing something to help the people of Amatrice, who are suffering still from an earthquake. They donate the proceeds from a dish founded in Amatrice, and named after it: called "alla matriciana."Before I rave about the meal, I want to rave about the Italian government, which lobbied to have this meal designated for protection, because it is a "traditional agro-alimentary product of Lazio," the county it's in. Why don't we have governments like that in North America that support and brag about and protect great cooking? That's my political rave for the time being! The restaurant didn't have the pig cheeks needed to make the dish the way it was invented here, because the earthquake means they're not available. So we made do with prosciutto, cut by the restaurant staff to imitate the real thing. They did a fantastic job. Now I'm really looking forward to the real thing. One reason why Italian has spread around the world so easily is that the ingredients are relatively affordable, thanks to the fact that Italians learned to cook for kings on a pauper's budget. Like pork cheeks and hunter's chicken. That spirit dominates this place. No white linen, just table cloth from brown butcher paper. The table cloth is telling you to relax! The light is low; how can it help but be romantic and intimate. My only complaint is the music. Techno pop does not fit.Amatrice is from the mountain spine near Rome, and the spine goes past Turin in the north, which also draws its inspiration from the same spine. We can learn from these people about a cuisine that has some spine!"
