"Sometimes you just need a great meal out and this was just what we needed to lift us after a hard week. Nigel Tabb’s Sunday roasts are a fabulous four course treat. This time there was a glass of cava to start and coffee to end four perfect courses. The roast venison and accompanying seasonal vegetables was exceptional. The Cote du Rhône Village I chose to go with it was great. Service was a good as the food. There is nothing more annoying than to have great food let down by poor service. This never happens at Tabb’s."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Penrose Kitchen today. We both opted for the set menu, which was primarily fish-based and didn't disappoint. I had the haddock fishcakes and my other half chose the pate. The latter came with one slice of toast which we considered a bit stingy, but you couldn't fault the immense flavour in either dish. For the main course, my partner chose the sole and I had the beef brisket. Again, both meals were delicious. I was so full after my two courses, I took the easy route out and ordered another glass of the fabulous French rose wine, (dry), whilst my other half managed to squeeze in a vanilla pannacotta with berries and a dollop of cornish iced cream. The service was attentive, yet unobtrusive, and we are definitely planning a return visit in the near future. Just one request please: for those of us who order the skinny fries, please can we have some vinegar on hand? Pretty please."

"I use 2 Chinese restaurants in the area Hoi Yan in Helston and Mandarin Garden in Truro. I've never had a bad or less than satisfactory meal from either. My favourites from MG Truro are the Hot Sour soup with either an extra hot Singapore Chow Mein or Spicy Chilli Chicken with a curry sauce and fried rice."

"The second visit for us yesterday. this time for lunch. the fish of the day was shaken with lardons in a white wine lemon and sawn sauce. it was really great. my cocktail 'one for her ladies' was devine and the pudding of lemon capsule was only openly ingenious."
