"This is a tiny, award winning bake shop in the Highlands area. They have won Top of the Town awards for both best cupcake, and best bakery in the Denver area. Everything is small scale and made from scratch. The bakery was formed by two women with a knack for baking, and a notion to go into business. They must have hit a niche in the market at a good time, because the place was jumping when we were there. Now, I’m not big into pastries, and $1.65 for a mini-cupcake seems like a lot to me, but enough people in the neighborhood disagree with me to keep this place thriving even in this day and age of reduced caloric intake. And, I have to admit, they have a pretty good product. The “bite size” cupcake I had pretty much melted in my mouth, and made me smile. It’s nice to know that they offer a variety of tasty options with the customer in mind. If you’re in the neighborhood, and you have sweet tooth, you should stop in and give them a taste. They might be difficult to find if you are unfamiliar with the area, and use GPS, because the storefront is located off the street on the south side in a small courtyard that serves other businesses, too. If you see a building painted purple with a yellow sign for “Julia Blackbird’s New Mexican Cafe” turn there and walk to the end of the courtyard. The bakery is the last door on the west side."

"This is a really cool French bistro in Denver. We had 8:30 pm reservations, we’re seated pretty promptly. I think they were operating short staffed so to put our drinks order in after we sat down we didn’t see our waitress till my husband asked. But even still, she was very sweet, you could tell they were just busy and short on staff. The cab franc is pretty good and their beer selection isn’t bad either. We had deviled eggs and oysters for apps, both were really good! My husband had the salmon which is arguably the best he’s ever had and I agree! The mix of flavors is delicious. I had the linguine which was also good but his entree was definitely better. Really cute a lot for a date night, would definitely recommend it!"
