"The food is okay. The server he messed up our order but he don’t really care. The server was rude. He make us feel he don’t want to attend us. But otherwise The place is look amazing. Have stunning view. And take a blanket with you because they always say they ran out . The only nice person in this place is the security guard."

"Yeah, yeah, so the chairs are made of cardboard, but who gives a flying Uni's Arse? I came for sushi, and you can call it a self-fulfilling prophecy (or maybe I am psychic, but the experience parallel my unfavorable premonition. Thanks to a few of the most ingenious “Ding companions” for providing the Booty list below. My comment is provided free of charge. BOOZE: —— Kirin Light $4.50 – Light, refreshing, but I should have adhered to the rule. Echigo $8.50 – Available only in one size (500 cc; tastefully clean and vivacious. Asahi Select $5.50 – Never seen before. Think of a red label Asahi with an amber color and extra bite. Good, but I wouldn't get it alone. Harushika (Junmai, Great $35 – What the hell... I thought we got a bottle of this stuff. Instead, this served in a small glass decanter with a hollow, concave center, which received a glass ball of ice. Whatever. The wish was good, but not worth $35 for the venerable amount. Green Veltliner, Leth, Steinagrund, Austria 2007 $38 – A dry and crisp white – thought this added a beautiful and stylish touch to the moderate dinner. FISH: —— Spicy Tuna Roll $6 – YAWN. Booooring. I had better for less at crispy maki yaki type places. A sloppy presentation with too much rice (which was on the soggy side and wimpy nori. Tuna/Maguro $6 – hands down, the most ruby-red meat I've ever seen. There was no correlation between its beautiful gem such as hue and imperceptible, almost absent, taste. Halibut/Hiram $6 – Good effort, had a pleasant moment. Salmon/sake $6 – That was unusual, in a good and unexpected way. Salmon melts in my mouth, but this baby needed a heavy mastication. The texture was closer to a hearty snapper than an oily leaf of butter. I enjoyed it. Red Snapper/Tai $8 – No soy. Dressed with a slut of Yuzu and sea salt. Delicious. Spanish Mackerel/Aji $8 – Unusual buttery – the Aji literally merged into the pores of my tongue. Chewing would have been optional if it had not been for the rice feed line. Jumbo Clam (Geoduck /Mirugai $10 – dry and plastic. I enjoy a good mirugai, but this was too leathery with the consistency of tarp (yeah, that's what I said. Needlefish/Sayori $8 – That was the least fresh. No unmistakable aroma, except its slight hint of fishiness, which I attribute to the lack of freshness. Scallop/Hotate $4 – Flabby small canyons served in the style of a typical “spicy scallop nigiri” but without the spicy. The serving size was stingy – my scallops did not run over the nori limit. Lachsei/Ikura $8 – SIGH. That wasn't good. The balls were mishaped and did not burst into a sea of salty, juicy love for mastication. These eggs came out of a white plastic glass... have looted quite cheap and old. Lake Urchin/Uni $10 – Almost had a radioactive orange shade. Taste was good; not insulting in any way. I certainly had better, but that was over. Fresh Kumamoto oysters $12 – good, but not great. Served with a lemon wedge and one side of Bland cocktail sauce. Ankimo – Steamed Monk Fish Liver with Spicy Ponzu Sauce $10.50 – I enjoyed it. The Ankimo had a beautiful, smooth pate texture. The liver is not available as nigiri, but you can order as an appetizer from the kitchen. Fresh water Eel/Unagi $6 – decent, a little firmer than what I'm used to. The sauce had a thick consistency with tar and a rich maple syrup color. All that goes beyond its small insert would have been sugar overload. Beef Sashimi $15 – BLAH! That was definitely the worst. My “eating companions” thought this was a decent dish, but I was almost forced to flee the meat back into the kitchen and demand more delicate cuts. These strips tasted like well made Sirloin pieces served under a deceptive coat of rare preparation. Japanese style Ceviche $14 – Very good, but I think this dish is hard to screw. I regret that the liberal application of Zilantro and Lime Juice triggered any similarity to Japanese sentiment, but life continues. Served on a crispy rice dish (remembered me from a Taco Bell Taco Salat Tortilla . Eggcake/Tamago $4 – No thanks. No natural egg taste and a bit on the firm side. Overwhelming sweetness that seems to originate from a man-made source (e.g. high fructose maize syrup, aspartam etc.). SUMMARY: ————— I would not come back and I would definitely not recommend R23 to my friends. For his hype (and a solid 26 Zagat food evaluation, I expected a lot more. Don't get me wrong – the ambience is pretty and a hip / elegant place for a date, but don't come here expected big sushi."

"The food was good but the restaurant itself is a bit rundown and showing its age. This may be a side effect of Covid so capital improvements may be impractical at this time"

"Prompt service. I ordered a foot long italian subs. The subs were perfectly prepared to my liking at no extra cost $7.99... the sandwich is so filling that i can only eat the 1at haft and eat the other half for dinner. their show case display was nice and clean. This is my go place for lunch while in school."

"The best sushi I had in the East Side and downtown by far. The owner is dressed in traditional Japanese men's kimono to cook with his wooden sandals behind the counter. He cooks with smiles, his passion for craftsmanship, while preparing your Kappo style (cooked complicated dishes) plates. It is not your Hollywood/Club sushi place, it is hard core Japanese sushi/cappo and not for those who are used to eat spicy tuna rolls or spider, dynamite rolls and wash it with a shaft bomb. The tasting menu/omakase is what I recommend if you have the budget for it $85/per person. Everything is seasonal. This menu has cooked dishes of season and sushi and finished with ice cream."

"I got their business card. It says:Y J UDON2740 W. Olympic BlvdLos Angeles CA 90006I had the Udon with 6 pieces Eel Roll. It also came with two mussels that were covered in a delicious sauce. The eel was good like I expected. Everything delicious. I wish I liked the udon broth better enough to want to drink it. All the food tasted great and was fresh. I will definitely be back. This small place is located inside the Korean grocery at the same location. I like this market because they have some things I like a lot and there is always plenty of parking."

"I have been coming here for the longest, always amazing service and fresh food. Suki is the most kindest person ever and she treats everyone with so much respect and kindness. Her food and boba is always made on the spot and you can never go wrong with anything you get. I would recommend this place to everyone, the Thai tea with boba is so delicious and also a tuna melt are my top two favorite."
