"We've been coming to Tabla for years we just celebrated our dad's birthday here and it was fantastic!!! We had a couple of special food requests such as lactose intolerance and ordering an off menu item. Needless to say they did a great job accommodating these requests and went above and beyond with our dinner! Our waiter was very attentive and charismatic, joking around to make sure we were having a good time. Even the owner and then the chef came out to wish my dad a happy bday! They made a special gulab jamun dessert just for him and played a song on the loudspeaker On regular days, they have equally delicious food and attention to detail. The location itself is spacious and well designed, with a big window overlooking the street. They're right next to Sook Pastry, which is a big plus. Luckily, parking is easy, as they're across the street from the new parking lot and they've usually got some open spaces on that road. Especially on Sundays when parking is free. However, they may get less foot traffic since their door is not obviously marked, and they're not on the central Ridgewood street. Nevertheless it is worth the visit! Thanks again for a great celebration!"

"This used to be our go to Indian restaurant, until about a year ago when things changed, and our favorite restaurant became no more. The food is still good, flavors are good, spicy but not what i remember craving before. I ordered it tonight for delivery and here is what i have to say about it. Gobi Manchurian flavor was OK. Not very tasty. Boom boom chicken tasty and crispy. Pretty good. Lamb Vindaloo it was warm, not hot. It was pretty spicy which I like but unfortunately the lamb was chewy and overly cooked, not as tender as I would’ve liked it. Rice was tasty."

"I just picked up some take out and I couldn't be more pleased! I ordered the Channa masala, vegetable samosas and a side of malabar paratha. It was all so delicious, and completely VEGAN! Not many Indian restaurants have a lot of vegan options, so when I found this restaurant on HappyCow I was so excited! Especially because it is so close my home. It's very hard to find vegan restaurants in this area. Best Indian food I've had in a long time. Everyone was so nice, and the man who answered the phone was so understanding and accommodating. Would give five stars but the app didn't let me. I will most definitely be coming back for more take out and for dine-in. Updated from previous review on 2016-09-23"

"What I liked:1) Food was good. Did not feel oily or heavy2) Ambience was good3) Service was good. Servers and owner came to check if things are okWhat I disliked:1) They levied 18% gratuity. We were two adults and two kids. Although their policy is to levy this for groups of 4 or more, they should not have counted kids as most families would visit with two kids. We would have tipped them anyways2) Food is expensive. For a family of 4, including two kids, you can easily incur a bill of approx. $75 $100. Compared to other good restaurants, they are overpriced, specially, if you factor in 18% gratuity. As an example, a curry woudl cost $24 $27 which becomes $30 $35 after incorporating gratuity and taxes"
