"I used to love ordering takeout from this place. The last three times I’ve ordered I have been extremely disappointed. My order instructions are never followed, and this last time the food quality was extremely poor. The veggies don’t taste fresh, and the dishes are unflavored yet somehow there is a pool of brown sauce at the bottom of the takeout dish. My partner’s dish made him sick to his stomach, and I could only stand a few bites of mine before throwing it in the trash. Sadly, after being a regular for 4 years, we will no longer be ordering from LuLu’s. I’ve given them plenty of chances. They need to get their quality checks in order and listen to their customers."

"I have a theory about childbirth, and why people tend to wait a few years between having each child. It takes that long for the desire to have another child to overcome the memories of the pain of childbirth. Well, eating at Webster Garden is very similar. I often get the urge to eat some Vietnamese food, and every couple of years I go back to Webster Garden, as it is very close to Maplewood, where I live. Then, after having gone there, I remember why it is only every couple of years that I go there. The painful memories of the prior visits come back with each bite of food. Now, I should say their Vietnamese egg rolls are fine, nothing spectacular, but perfectly passable. However, on the most recent visit they had no lettuce that is traditionally served with them, even when asked. No cucumber, or other herbs either. Oh well. On to the Pho. Where do you start. I asked if they had any tendon, to which I received a reply, no, but there is tendon in the meatballs. Perhaps that is the classic way of making Vietnamese meatballs, but it seemed odd to me. So I went with the basic Pho Tai. The broth was pale and greasy, and not the good kind of greasy when you see the little globules of fat floating on the top, but the kind of greasy that coated your tongue. The flavor, of which there was very little would best be described as dishwater. Actually that might be an overstatement, as it didn 't taste bad, it just really didn 't taste at all. The rice noodles had been oversoaked and were mushy. And the rare beef was sliced too thick and overcooked by the time it reached my table (I was the only person in the place at 2 in the after noon. The Cafe Sua Da was premade and brought to the table, vs. the type of pour over and then mixed fresh at the table. This was a first for me. This wasn 't a huge crime but when you add it all up, it just leaves you to shake your head. So to sum up, I 've been eating Vietnamese food since 1989, in multiple cities and in multiple countries (sadly, never Vietnam. It 's my favorite cuisine. I 'm not a Karen, and typically I just let things slide. However, I had to put down in words the pain of this visit, in hopes that as my memory fades and I think to go back again, I 'll pull them up in Google Maps to see if they 're open, I 'll see my review and it will remind me to just go get some Ramen up at Yummi Tummi."
