"Their chicken katsu is my comfort food. Here's how it became one of my most beloved dishes in the area: When I first started living out here, I looked for a good Hawaiian spot, having frequented many different L&L's and Ono's in the past. I read reviews on this very L&L to see if it was any good. And a couple of people said the very sentence I started this review with: the chicken katsu here was their comfort food. A perfect blend of tender, juicy chicken and crunchy katsu batter, they said. As a fan of all things katsu, how good could it REALLY be, I wondered. Very very good, I soon found. That first time I ordered it living in a new place, starting a new chapter in life and having some of the best chicken katsu I've ever had... not to be cheesy, but that'll be something I always remember. Not only was the chicken crunchy, juicy, and moist, but there was a mountain of it inside my takeout box. They don't treat the chicken as if it were some secret to hide. No, they shout it out from the mountaintops. They pile that katsu chicken on layer after layer after layer. In the many, many times I've ordered it since, sometimes I don't even finish the whole thing which tells you a lot about the portion size considering how much I enjoy it. So in summary, try their chicken katsu. Maybe you won't be impressed because it's been built up too much. Or maybe you'll be lucky like I was taking a shot in the dark, and finding that you now have a new comfort food in life."
