"As usual service was fantastic as is the ambiance . We have been here many times and always return to a warm welcome from all the staff especially the ones who have been there for some time and know us. My husband especially loved the Cullen Skink. Only one small issue I would comment on is the system between ordering and paying you almost always, at bill paying time, miss out on some things we have had and occasionally add on things we haven't had. We have been told that you have installed a new system but the problem is still there. We always own up but how many of your clientele do the same I wonder?"

"Despite booking this restaurant some weeks before, upon arriving we discovered that we would have to eat in the bar as the restaurant had been taken over for a private venue. This was highly disappointing as this was a special occasion and had been booked and confirmed in advance. Because the private was taking place staff were more involved in catering for this initially before turning their attention to us. Food was OK but as we said eating off a bar table does not give the ambience we were looking for on this night."

"The Shoulder of Mutton is our favourite venue for eating out at the weekend. It is easy to get to, cosy, with real fires. The beer is excellent, well kept and a good temperature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is home-cooking style and really flavoursome. It is easy to book a table on the website. They also have occasional events which are very popular."
