"Bo kwong is a very rustic, local Chinese Buddhist restaurant that does not speak much English. I go to lunch almost every day of school, as I teach in a school close by. the staff is very friendly and helpful, so are also the customers I have eaten here at least 50 times. the lunch is $40 $4 (tea) 10% and they get a suppe (which is always vegan). even the cocossuppenrei and one of two dressed of the day (usually one of them is vegan). Alternatiw allows you to use the menu (one of the masters at bo kwong, mr lo, translates the entire Chinese menu in English, there is a kopie behind the reception, next to the main door), I would recommend the rice dishes, as they are large mostly vegan, and just avoid $39 easy egg and mice meat. herr lo translated the menu as a kind did for me to help other western and the restaurant, he does not work there, but he eats there every day. to help vegans order there, he has included the following labels on the food: ice, milk, fake meat. if a dish has the ice or milk label, it is of course not vegan (the only exception is the curry with rice dish that has milk in it, but this can be omitted on request). there are however a few dishes that contain eggs/milk, but have not been marked, so it is best to always double check before ordering. if a court is called fake meat, then it will contain fake meat (as always, again, there are a few dishes that contain fake meat, but not labeled as such). this is important to note because some of the fake meat contains milk and/or ice products, but they are not 100% safe which. Therefore, if they are a vegan, it is safest to avoid fake meat also. they told me that they will show me the list for all fake meats and if they do, I will update here. still are the only fake meats that are definitiw vegan are those that are literally only tofu ie sometimes in the lunch deal they offer ‘ceils’ that is tofu and seaweed (very tasty on the menu, there is a ‘hoen with rice and ginger’ dish 40), which is only tofu, they have assured me that these ‘fake meats’ are only tofu. Finally, I would like to say that the chef chef and the owner is a strict bhuddist vegetarian. he and his team are very friendly and welcoming, they do not yet fully understand veganism, but give it time. they cook delicious and affordable food. they also give their food to the homeless 3x /month."
