"With our pilgers to eat and we were sure we did. delicious pan fried with garnel in garlic and olive oil for three of us and a cod for the fourth. the portions were huge and tasty, but unfortunately...too big to finish! we were served brot and oliven, our meal and wee and water for four people for 47€, an excellent offer! in any case they give this place an attempt, they will not regret!"

"Constantino das Enguias, located in Foros de Benfica do Ribatejo in the Municipality of Almeirim. Restaurant with cafeteria atmosphere, noisy and apparently disorganized. It has a quieter second room. With no pretensions, this restaurant has been open since 1974 and is recommended for all eel lovers. Difficult appointment, only via phone and often they don't answer. Normal cover charge consisting of olives, butter and bread €0.60 each. Highlight for the homemade bread, baked in a wood oven at 12:15, which arrives at the hot table ready to receive the butter. Various soups, on specific days. On Fridays, soup with meat, stone soup on Sundays and fish soup also on Sundays and holidays. It should be noted that the soup in a generous dose is served for two people. It costs 4€. The fried eels, half a dose, after the soup half a dose is enough. 10€. Small and crispy eels, served with sliced potatoes, well fried €3 and a salad €1.75. The dessert chosen was a homemade chocolate mousse. Coffee is Delta. Wine... The cheapest wine list we know with some of the best Portuguese wines at cellar prices. For whites, Guru €35, Mirabilis €45 or Taboadella Gran Villae at €35. In reds, the offer is similar. We drink Carvalhais Reserva Br 2019 €19.50. Suitable cups. The service was erratic at first, but then normalized. It doesn't have great room service, but that's not the goal of anyone looking for this restaurant, where you always want to come back. Tips: Go early, for bread and to secure a spot. We advise sharing the order. And why is it essential for us? For the eels and for the good wines at unique prices. Original O Constantino das Enguias, localizado em Foros de Benfica do Ribatejo no Município de Almeirim. Restaurante com ambiente de refeitório, barulhento e aparentemente desorganizado. Tem uma segunda sala mais sossegada. Sem pretensões, este restaurante aberto desde 1974 recomenda-se a todos os apreciadores de enguias. Marcação difícil, só via telefone e muitas vezes não atendem. Couvert normal composto por azeitonas, manteigas e pão 0,60€ cada. Destaque para o pão caseiro, cozido no forno de lenha às 12:15, que chega à mesa quente pronto para receber a manteiga. Várias sopas, em dias específicos. À sexta-feira sopa do campo com carne, sopa da pedra aos domingos e a sopa de peixe também aos domingos e feriados. De referir que a sopa em dose generosa é servida para duas pessoas. Custa 4€. As enguias fritas, meia dose, depois da sopa meia dose é suficiente. 10€. Enguias pequenas e crocantes, acompanham com batatas às rodelas, bem fritas 3€ e uma salada 1,75€. A sobremesa escolhida foi uma mousse de chocolate caseira. O café é Delta. Vinho... A carta de vinhos mais barata que conhecemos com alguns dos melhores vinhos portugueses a preços de garrafeira. Nos brancos, Guru 35€, Mirabilis 45€ ouTaboadella Gran Villae a 35€. Nos tintos a oferta é semelhante. Bebemos Carvalhais Reserva Br 2019 19,50€. Copos adequados. O serviço foi irregular no começo, mas depois normalizou. Não tem um grande serviço de sala, mas também não é esse o objetivo de quem procura este restaurante, onde apetece sempre voltar. Dicas: Ir cedo, pelo pão e para garantir lugar. Aconselhamos a partilha do pedido. E por que é essencial para nós? Pelas enguias e pelos bons vinhos a preços únicos."

"We went there because of TA recommendation. It was a failure; we ordered codfish and calf steak. Codfish wasn't perfect, but you could survive to it; however, meat was absolutely unacceptable, it was a big steak but it wasn't possible even to cut it (it...was ordered medium). We noticed the fact to the staff, and they argued that may be if well done, but the problem was the steak poor quality, fully unacceptable but as a shoe sole! We were not given a solution, we paid everything and we left. Staff unfriendly (but a lady who felt really ashamed because of the issue, but who couldn't help). Beware of this place!"

"Typical Portuguese cuisine. A little secluded. Food is okay and the service is excellent. Friendly staff. Reserve especially if you want to eat on Friday or Saturday. The grilled pork ribs are a must try. They will bomb you with all their Cuverts on your table without order (e.g. cheese, bread, olives, etc.). But you can always refuse and ask her to take away. This is practice in almost all the rest here in Portugal. You can always say NO. Kick them up because I wasn't FREE. The choice is yours."
