"I will only eat here if I have an absolute craving for something sushi-like and this was the only place open in the vicinity. Can’t talk about the apps. But, the sushi is seriously not good. The menu makes it out to be so much more than what you are dealt."

"There was a wait list. Expect to wait a little bit because it's a small joint. However, once we got our table, we were happily greeted by our waiter who was very courteous and took our order without issue. We ordered standard issue ramen, which was really tasty in large proportions. We also ordered cucumber rolls. The presentation was great and they were good as well. Last we had salmon sashimi which was on point. Served with a lemon and everything. They even brought us the spicy powder stuff. Great food, vibe, atmosphere, location, and service. 10/10 would return."

"Wasn't a huge fan when I came here last year. Went again a few weeks ago and fell in love. Their pork belly, seared steak or beef? (I think) and toro was so good we had seconds. Croquettes were hot and cold but tastes good with the sauce."

"Great value, descent taste and quick, friendly service! They have an unusual combination in lunch specials: Udon with salmon sashimi bowl. I also added spicy miso broth to udon for $1 extra. Spicy and miso are also a surprise, but the taste was very smooth. The bowl of rice is covered with a dozen or so salmon stripes, cut smaller than your typical sashimi but still has enough meat to fill me up. The salmon tastes rich and fresh, just what I expected. At a total of under $11, that’s a steal. I also ordered a side of edamame with garlic sauce, another surprise considering most restaurants serve edamame sides plain. My entire meal costed $15 and odds, and was so fulfilling I couldn’t eat dinner. I entered the restaurant after 2pm on a Sunday. The orders came very quickly. With three waitresses and at least one waiter, I expect orders to be equally fast on weekdays if you can get a seat. The space is really small, I think they have less than a dozen tables that barely seat four each. Decoration is light yet themed. (The Japanese name suggests ghost, so there are monsters on the wall. There is even a hint of Godzilla although I do not see it in display. Update: I have since come here several times with my daughter and have not been disappointed. This is surprisingly close to the Golden Gate Park. All in all, this is a great place to eat if you come to that area."

"Happy hour deal is fantastic, got the $4 fried cali roll and $8 sake beer special. Don’t bother on the main menu items. Only the happy hour is really worth it.$19 2 entrees combo: salmon and dynamite sushi roll$12.75 chicken udonThe chicken in the udon was really dry, basically just boiled."

"Kobe, located right next to Lucky's, is a large Japanese restaurant that offers delicious Japanese courses and a variety of sushi rolls. The food is the best Japanese food you can find in San Mateo and the staff is all very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place as it has become one of my favorite new restaurants."
