"What at first appears to be a simple and cozy cafe front hides a delightful hideaway garden where delicious food can be enjoyed in a open and airy setting. The waffle and fried chicken and the pancakes are certainly highlights in a simple yet enjoyable menu. Highly recommended as an excellent alternative to the busy beach front options."

"Usually excellent service but the owner appears to be struggling to keep the doors open on Monday and Tuesday. Service is definitely hit and miss on those evenings. The steak is excellent, definitely a personal favourite. If you are heading down for after work drinks, it’s a great spot but can be a bit noisy. For a family or special dinner, I would recommend Thursday to Saturday. Get in early and sit down by the kitchen if you get cold. It’s away from the bar so a little quieter."

"Came here for a long black and mochachino, and was relatively impressed with the taste, temperature and strength of the coffee (Atomic coffee beans, if anyone was curious). The cafe itself is a nice place but slightly open to the kitchen and not huge (fittings could be improved). Perhaps slightly understaffed too as tables weren't cleared so quickly. The salads in the cabinet looked fresh and tasty. Would recommend for drinks, but next time we will have them to-go. With the beachside so close, it's worth a short walk down to the water rather than sitting in the close, busy cafe. Other than that, Leaf and Loaf earns a good coffee rating. With Matt Knott"

"The beetroot chocolate slice is chocolatey smooth with like a chocolate chip base. Very nice! The ninja ginger slice is not too gingery and has a cheesecake taste to it. : people are very nice!"

"Enjoyed the kale pesto used on the Avo on Toast! The Acai bowl was also delicious and had really crunchy granola. There’s a good selection of smoothie bowls at Cali Press and had lovely staff. Price was okay but the flavours of the smoothie bowls were nommers!"

"All smoothie bowls are vegan (one has honey but can easily be removed! Coconut, soy and almond milk alternatives for hot drinks. Yum range of vegan slices and cookies. Focus on healthy, nutritious and refined sugar free food. Lovely staff, who are knowledgable of the menu and conscientious of allergies."

"Rating 4.0 Great fresh modern New Zealand cuisine. A number of my colleagues recommended this place as one of their favourite restaurants in Auckland. It definitely lived up to the hype. The service was friendly accommodating even when I haven’t got a reservation. Really enjoyed my rustic looking ashed angus sirloin. One worthy to revisit again."
