"We came here for a couple of drinks and some dinner. The club itself is really good and the staff friendly. It was nice and warm with a food atmosphere. We ordered the food which was from the specials board. The chowder was so bad and tasted so sttrongly of garlic that my wife left it after just 2 spoons. I had the vindaloo and the meat was very tough and tasted very powdery and the side salad just didn't match it and I also left this meal after only a few mouthfulls. Thank goodness that I ordered a side if chips which also came with gravy as the grave was the best thing aboutt the whole meals as the chips were just acceptable with grave as they had obviously been cooked in old oil. The waitress must have known how bad the food was as ahe did not even ask us why we had left the meals when she collected the plates. Very disapointing and it was definately not a chef or even an experienced cook that cooked the food on this Saturday night. This is definately the worst food we have tasted not only at the Gold Coast but in Australia."

"We were looking for somewhere different in our local area that offered delicious food for Friday night dinner with friends. Read some great reviews for Counter Eatery and learnt they had just recently commenced a dinner menu 3 nights per week. Wow what a Dining Experience; good service, attentive & friendly waitress, wonderful French gourmet menu selection; all meals cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, arriving to our table in such a timely manner to enjoy without fault. You select small and large plates for your order, which are meant to be shared. Hard to pick which one was the hero dish; the sand crab cakes & chilli jam, or cauliflower fritters in lime yogurt, the duck confit or my favourite beef brochette with bearnaise sauce and served with the most amazing oven baked potato gratin you have ever tasted. Did I mention the beautiful full French flavours and the tasty house made jams and sauces they serve. Undoubtedly all dishes served to our table were just divine and for desert, we all agreed, the best ever vanilla creme brûlée we had eaten. It was so nice to enjoy something different to the usual restaurant menus on offer, we could not find one thing to fault about our whole dining experience. Large modern premise, tastefully decorated, casual but upmarket atmosphere, can dine inside or outdoor on the veranda, licensed venue and reasonable prices. Will definitely make this place a regular for us and after reading the breakfast and lunch menus, can't wait to go back to try more of their wonderful food offerings. Highly recommend - affordable quality dining experience."
