"We stopped here because the restaurant we were going to originally was closed for a private event. This was a the best choice! Food and service was excellent. The owner (also the cook) came out and greeted everyone. When he found out it was a couples anniversary, he turned off the background music, grabbed his guitar and sang several so happy for them (and the rest of this cozy dining room) We split the spinach manicotti and a Caesar salad. The food was excellent. Something I would expect at a much more expensive restaurant. Thank you to the owner and staff for making out night!"

"We have been there 5 or 6 times with different friends and because it's the only restaurant in the area it may have taken off too fast and has growing pains. The pizza is ok but could do with less cheese and the bottom of the crust has been soggy. They have a nice variety of dinners on the menu with specials. Salads and appetizers. The staff is friendly but in too much of a hurry that they have to come back to the table often for clarification of order. The wine selection is poor especially not having a basic Italian red wine when your menu is basically Italian. They can't keep saying they're working on it. The booths are very uncomfortable, the built in table is too narrow but they have a lot of seating that can be adjusted for all size of parties. Grass cutting and better signage would give the place some curb appeal. Needs a clean up. All in all we are very pleased that the McKenzie is back in operation and with some tweaking it should be around for a long time. Good Luck."

"We arrived early but without a reservation. Very small cozy restaurant, reservations a good idea, they cheerfully accommodated us, explained the menu, and then served the best steak ever with interesting and very flavorful sides. Very satisfying meal topped off with delicious truffles. I think we met the entire staff including the owner. Steaks are sourced from small farms in Manitoba."
