"Valentine’s at Rustico -sounded charming – NOT. The menu had many tantalizing options – in print, but unfortunately, the appetizers were the only good part of the entire experience. We wanted to order in stages for a leisurely meal, which should not have been an issue given how empty the place was. The waitress said NO, we had to order everything at once. Odd. I ordered roast chicken over mushrooms with baby artichokes – not an easy dish to mess up. The artichokes were dry, overcooked and had no flavor. The chicken (more like a game hen) was also extremely dry and inedible – I managed two bites. When the waitress returned to clear our plates she asked how it was. I told her “disappointing” and explained. She quipped that I should have told her sooner, and I would have if she had made an appearance! I don’t think it would have mattered though since now offer to make amends (new meal or price breakd or gift card or even an apology which is all we needed) was ever made. When we paid our bill I asked her what the manager had said, having received NO feedback. She kept saying that she told him what happened and that she was only the waitress. This blatant disregard for a patron’s experience will keep us away from Rustico forever, more than the quality of the food. Beware – if you are seeking a good experience from a restaurant that cares about its food and patrons, go somewhere else."
