"We had a classic Austrian meal at Die Schindelstube during our vacation by Faaker See and had a good experience - although there was room for a little improvement.For starters we had Gullaschsuppe - a nice, rich broth with meat, vegetables and just the right amount of chili - in a funny, quirky serving in a sort of jar. It was followed by an excellent rumpsteak of Angusmeat - juicy and very tender. It was topped by fried chantarelles, onions and bacon, which was fine, but we were disappointed to have fried potatoes from the freezer.I had Apfelstrudel - a soft apple cake in a sea of vanilla sauce - for dessert, which was ok, while the kids had a rather boring ice dessert that wasn't quite as festive as the description in the menu...Die Schindelstube offers cozy surroundings in the forest by Faaker See, and on a hot evening it is a pleasure to have dinner on it's terrace. This evening we had a mountain thunderstorm to spice up an all in all ok experience, so we stayed indoor..."
