"As seems to be the case with a lot of Ask properties, the setting is a major selling point. Located in the heart of York and only a few minutes walk from the York Minster, this branch is no different in that respect.The building itself, once a Victorian meeting hall, is immense and takes your breath away. Lareg pillars and tall plants surround the walls, and you really do feel like you're in a special place.The food doesnt quite live up to that but then, it couldnt really. Thats not to say its bad food it isnt. Its basic pizza, pasta and salad dishes which are tasty but unremarkable. For a city centre restaurant its reasonably priced, with the exception of the desserts which are very expensive for what you get.If you can visit in the daytime, you'll get to appreciate your surroundings. Visit at a weekend evening, and chances are it'll be heaving. This doesnt take away from the experience, but it means your service will suffer accordingly.Its a dining experience unlike any other in the north of England and well worth a visit. Just dont expect earth shattering food"

"I and my husband went there tonight - we made the best decision. everything we can say about eating is amazing appetizer meatballs and mosquitoes and the net were also fantastic-huh with sneezing sauce and filet steak with pfefferminz sauce. everything was super hot, fresh from the kitchen (you can see that they cook their meal). the sidevene was beautiful and since my nabebie can't eat kartoffel skin, I tell them how nice it was to have peeled kartoffel skin. To be honest, I can't stress how nice it was to eat tonight! the best decision they will make! we will be back a lot!"

"Good starters. Sketchy steaks ordered 4 fillet and 1 rump special chewy and dry 3 5 of them. One was so tough gristly we had to send back. Great staff and service and hence the 3rd star. Eat here if you don't have an option feeling lazy else better options in town."

"I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. I cant fault anything. The food was amazing and all of it equally as good, impossible to pick a favourite dish. The service was great as well. If you are a table of two I recommend sitting up the kitchen as I enjoyed watching what the chefs were doing and seeing all the other dishes. Can't wait to go back very soon"
