"I used to go in the evening for tacos to Taqueria la Lechuza with friends, after university classes ended in weekdays, back in the late seventies. It was one of the very best sitting taquerias close to South Insurgentes Avenue, in the south of Mexico...City. Forty years later, La Lechuza is still as good as then and proudly holds one important record in serving taco lovers for generations. It is visited for tacos by families, couples of all ages, students, upper middle class, for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is very informal and relaxed. Tacos are cooked in front of you at the diming room in the main flooor. The menu has been kept pretty much the same for decades, specialities includinfg meat tacos (bistec, chuleta, pastor) and a variety of cheese gratinee tacos. Dont miss the quesadilla de nopal (a unique cheesse taco with a braised cactus leave) and the higaditos taco (chicken liver taco), both rarely found elsewhere. Among desserts, the jericallas are very good. And the aguas frescas (home made non alcoholic drinks, jamaica, horchata and tamarindo) are also very good, or you could have a very cold beer. Prices are average, very normal. Certainly, la Lechuza is a true tradition. Very reccomendable."

"We had tacos pastor, gringas, frogs and fajitas and everything was absolutely first advice. and of course it is not a chain, that is the only. everyone was mexican (except us), so they know that it is good. when they are in this part of the city. (coyoacan) come in any case."
