"Had a chorizo and 1/2 rib eye steak (ojo de bife) with Trumpeter Malbec. Steak melted in your mouth. Went early so service was unhurried. Standards haven't dropped since I visited last March."

"We were in the San Telmo area looking for a place to eat after 9 P.M. We were recommeded to go to el Cuartito, which is one street away from this place, but when we got to el Cuartito, it was closed. So we made a search and Piola came up. We walked towards this restaurant because the critics were good on the search engine we used. When we reached the entrance, we started hesitating because the place looked lifeless and empty from the outside. I reckon we almost walked away. Then, intuition kicked in and we took our chances . Well done, because once you step in... Practically every good thing you can read from other reviewers is absolutely true. The restaurant actually can fool you because from the street you have no idea how deep this goes in. The narrow entrance gives way to broader areas, with a DJ on a platform along the way, and it even has an outside patio. The place is impeccable and spotlessly clean. Every table has cloth (unlike in most places in the US and is nicely set up. The staff is great, the girls are very gracious and the quality of the service is impeccable. You are treated very well, and you do not have the impression the waiters are overdoing or faking things at all. You can even have a nice conversation with them without any rush or pressure (true though that when we went, the restaurant was not packed as I suspect it gets on weekends . We ordered Pizzas and they were fantastic. Brick Oven made, I saw it it with my eyes. Tasty, thin, crunchy, what can I add? We got an excellent recommendation for a white Argentinian wine (and I am not a fan of Argentinian wines, so there goes another bonus for the restaurant and its staff , and the tiramisu we indulged in at the end was marvelous. We got the lemon sherbet with alcohol others mention (nice touch, it should be the norm everywhere, it tells the guests you are important, thank you for coming . The music was fine, not too loud, not too low. It reminded me of the type of music from the Buddha bar cds, which I love, so there goes another bonus for the restaurant. We liked the place so much that we returned two nights later, our last night before leaving Argentina. This time Djamila took care of us, and she is adorable. We ordered a pizza for three, and it did not bother them at all. Same impression as the first time regarding the quality of the food, so there is consistency there. This restaurant is open until 1 A.M., and we were of the last to leave, but no pressure from anyone to throw us out or give us hints that they were about to close. And another bonus point for the restaurant. They apparently have several locations in South America, and one in Roma. If I ever return to Roma, I certainly will test their restaurant to compare them. One final note. We did go to el Cuartito. Verdict was that La Piola is much better..."

"I've been going to the estancia since 1969 and I've never been disappointed. the food is still excellent. the service is very good and the right price. Even if I don't eat there, I love to stop and "look at windows" when I'm in the area. I love watching my dinner getting ready in the front window! :-)"

"We were taken here by our host Maria. We arrived at the restaurant around 8:00pm and were a bit concerned that the place was empty. By 9:30 the place was packed. The restaurant serves Spanish style food from the Galicia region. During my stay I...went twice and both times enjoyed my meal. The portions are generous. I had chicken in a mustard cream sauce with potatoes and a fish dish in a tomato sauce. As other writers have suggested skip the bread basket. The bread is stale and certain that the basket has seen many customers. I wish I would have had the paella."
