"This review is for experiences that took place about a year ago at Salumeria. I haven 't been back since because of a series of mediocre and finally, negative experiences. I always thought the food here, while high quality, was just ok in terms of taste. My office used to be a couple blocks away, so occasionally, I would go there for lunch if I hadn 't brought lunch and if I felt like being spendy. One of the last times I went was sometime in spring/summer 2019. The fact that I still remember this particular experience should be telling. I ordered the King Trumpet vegetarian sandwich, a new ish menu item at the time. Here is what happened: 1 As I waited, I heard the employees talking out loud about how they didn 't like the King Trumpet sandwich and that it was the worst one all while a customer (me was standing a few feet away! Maybe they didn 't know I had ordered it, but it made me feel really embarrassed and bad about my choice. Not only was their behavior unprofessional, but I didn 't know what to say or do. How does a customer provide real time feedback to their staff? I bit my tongue and figured I would go ahead and try the sandwich as originally intended. 2 In addition, I had ordered to go, which the cashier acknowledged, but it seems that detail was never communicated to the rest of the team. The whole time, I could see my sandwich being made and then I could see it sitting there on the counter. Nobody wrapped it up or did anything with it. I was confused, but decided to continue waiting in case they had a system in place and to give them the benefit of the doubt. Ultimately, after an unreasonable amount of time and after seeing other food go out, I went up to inquire and was finally able to retrieve my sandwich, which by that point, I was not even excited to try. The employees never took responsibility and made it seem like it was my fault they didn 't know it was supposed to be to go. On a separate occasion, (this might have been the last time I went , I ordered a salad to go, but they barely put anything in the to go box! It was a small handful of leaves and probably less than half the size of a salad you would have received in a for here order. Again, I bit my tongue and didn 't complain, because I had already walked back to my office. In all these instances, I always just felt so bad paying close to $20 for what turned out to be a really bad lunch. I rationalized that maybe they did this to me because I didn 't tip enough? At the time, I was working an hourly wage job, so going to Salumeria on infrequent occasions was like splurge and I didn 't feel comfortable giving large tips for what was already an expensive meal for me. To end on a sociological note, it 's sad that the clientele at Salumeria (and that entire block of 20th St Sightglass, Trick Dog, etc. is so whitewashed and much less diverse than the surrounding neighborhood. There are a lot of working class residents in that part of the eastern Mission who could not afford to eat at Salumeria, and they literally live right down the street. This observation is something I became acutely aware of and made me feel increasingly uncomfortable about going there eating a $20 lunch in such a sheltered, carefree bubble. On top of the specific negative experiences I had (as described above , I developed a sort of imposter syndrome about eating there. My dissatisfaction with their food and service combined with my social unease led me to conclude I was better off not continuing to patronize Salumeria. P.S. I 've since switched jobs outside of the City, so this problem eventually resolved itself and now I have even less reason to go there."

"Food was delicious as always. Onion rings are best we’ve ever had anywhere…always start with that. Pasta was especially yummy last night, but always good. Mushrooms in crème fraiche sauce over crispy polenta back on menu and is outstanding, love their small plates, small salads and veggies, too…servers are so friendly, love to go there. Ate outside with our dog, one of 4 there this visit. They gave him a homemade dog biscuit! He approved!"

"This was our first time coming to Miller’s and it did not disappoint. I had the breakfast sandwich and my husband had the fried chicken and biscuit with gravy. The food was so good and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Such a gem for brunch. We will be back when we are in town again."

"Really amazing pizza. They sell by the slice and toast it up hot before they give it to you. So much character here. Eat inside or out. It has a bike lock. Little corner market nearby. Right next to the presidio in case you want to go for a walk or take your dog."
