"My friend has been with me for a while to visit Delancey in Hollywood. I'm pretty picky about my pizza, but finally we've been caved and we went last week. Shortly to the atmosphere: not too illuminated, warm and intimate. But sometimes something too intimate... I don't like the feeling that other diners breathe on my food. Delancey is proud of the New York style pizza and some chic imported and homemade beer. They have a wide selection of design and filled beer, but the best part of their releases was a large $12/4 beer/20oz sampler dish. I'm not much of a beer soak and it's hard to justify falling 8 or 9 dollars on a glass of beer, but the sampler made me feel a little more classic than usual and I didn't have to break the bank to try some new brews. I didn't get into her wine list, but they got one. We ordered a standard Romaine salad for 10 or 11 dollars, but it was quite plentiful and very fine cubed in a way I had never seen before. Only the correct amount of salami bits made for a beautiful taste. And now the pizza. They initially offer only predetermined topping combinations. And if that's not bad enough, any kind of pizza is named after a quarter of Brooklyn. We settled on the Fulton: artichoke, mozzarella and garlic. My problem with New York style is some people understanding that thin crust must be as thin as possible and Delancey falls into this trap; the pizza didn't really fill me and every slice had gone after a few bites. For an average size age with a robust appetite, two pizzas would have been the way. It tastes good, but another speciality was that when it was brought out, they asked if we wanted Parmesan cheese with him. I told you they'd leave a shaker there for us. But the waiter continued to immediately use the entire cake with “freshly rubbed parmesan” from one of these huge pepper mill looking things. I didn't even know if my friend wanted Parmesan (I don't think she did). Even stranger was that they left a shaker of crushed red pepper on the table, so this was not like a high-end tomic....it was just strange and intrusive for me. To round it off, it was quite expensive. A salad, medium-sized cake, beer sampler and another pint ran almost $50 at the top. The cake is not bad and the beer selection is top notch, but I'm not eager to go back. P.S. this is my first review here.... I hope I did it right."
