"Some of the food can be very yummy but it is way too expensive for what it is. I am local to the easter road branch so really tried to give this a chance and tried the deli (paid over £20 for 3 items) the bakery and coffee. Last time was the last straw when I paid £5 for a salad box (small) that was half filled. Every time it is as if staff do not want to give you what they have and unfortunately I wont be back now."

"I love this place, we were looking for breakfast and stumbled upon this cafe almost overlooking it as it is not on street level, steps up from the lower side, or enter via John Knox house on the high side. Most of the people frequenting this cafe seem to be locals as this is a thriving community hub, next door to the Storytelling Centre, with a child friendly space, exhibition area, and regular stay-telling events for all ages. The cafe is right in the middle, selling locally sourced produce, and a range of hot options for brunch. The wonderful Adam is behind the counter, took our order day one and then remembered it every time we went in! The only problem is that it doesn't open until 10am. Lovely food, great coffee, excellent service, and a really calm, welcoming ambience."

"The table we were put on was far too small for the party of 7 we had. It wasn’t in the restaurant that we asked for, but in a corner of the very loud and busy bar. We couldn’t hear each other over the obnoxiously loud music. The burger was very good, however everything else that was ordered was very disappointing. The servers were fantastic and very nice. However the quality of servers couldn’t make up for the low quality of every other aspect of our visit."

"We've been to groats before when it was a pop up, we were over the moon when it found a permanent home, then not so happy when they announced they were moving. On that note, we had to go back and try it again! Famous for it's porridge, we went for one porridge and one French toast. Two refillable coffees to wash it down. The French toast was perfect, thick sliced and perfectly cooked. When you do something so good, keep doing it this is groats all over. Will be looking out for when they next find a home."
